Polished Quartz Sculpture with Phantom Inclusions
By Lawrence Stoller
Lawrence Stoller is an awared-winning sculptor whose works are featured in museums and galleries around the world.
He was commissioned by American Express to create the centerpiece for their 9/11 Memorial located across the street
from Ground Zero.
Using a highly transparent rough specimen of quartz, Stoller has created a contemporary freeform sculpture by
polishing the various faces to present a clearer view of the interior, complete with phantoming and evidence of
the original brown matrix formerly attached to the reverse side.
Measures: 11" x 8 " x 5".

Tall Amethyst Cathedral
Minas Gerais, Brazil
Rio Grande du Sol, Brazil
Geodes are formed in volcanic gas bubbles, the peripheries of which solidify while cooling. Over the eons, water
and mineral seepage into these voids produces striking crystalline structures such as those seen in the present
example.
Measures: 37 ½" x 12".
SRP: $3,250

Rhodochrosite Slab
La Capillita Mine
Catamarca, Argentina
A fine, extremely thick and sold slice of rhodochrosite cut from a cave stalactite from this classic
locality. The specimen displays interesting concentric growth banding with a rich red-pink and white
coloration and excellent polish on both sides. The outside bears the original rough textured surface
of the stalactite. Such material was originally produced as a by-product from operating silver mines
in this part of Argentina. In the mines, open cavities filled with rhodochrosite cave formations were
mined along with the associated silver ore. The supply of these older formations, particularly the
better examples, has been slowly depleted as miners and collectors sell off the old material. This
attractive piece displays the typical mineral association with galena visible to the interior.
Measures: 11" x 6" x 1".
SRP: $1,375
