Fossil Leaf with Palm Tips

An elegant vertical presentation displays a delicate and beautifully preserved leaf with fringes of a palm frond at one side. Palms and other flora from the Green River Formation are considered rare; therefore, the juxtaposition of two species is especially desirable. Coloration of both the fossils and matrix exemplify the warm, golden tones of the F-2 Horizon of the Green River Formation.

Petrified Wood Log with Branch Separation

Araucarioxylon arizonicum lived during the Triassic, before the continents separated, on the landmass known as Pangaea. The present specimen displays exceptionally textured bark and an aesthetically pleasing shape with the base of a branch present at the top portion. The polished top shows a range of brown to tan colors.

Tall Petrified Wood Log with Black End

The features of the Chinle Formation are consistent with a broad flood plain; the trees found in the area are generally described as having been transported by flood conditions into the formation’s sedimentary basin. The present log specimen would have been carried many miles before reaching its final destination to be exquisitely preserved for all time. The polished end shows primarily black with tan and off-white. Unusual bark coloration of light tan and black is exhibited.
