Fossil Leaf with Palm Tips
Sabalites sp.
Eocene
Green River Formation
An elegant vertical presentation displays a delicate and beautifully preserved leaf with fringes of a palm
frond at one side. Palms and other flora from the Green River Formation are considered rare; therefore, the
juxtaposition of two species is especially desirable. Coloration of both the fossils and matrix exemplify the
warm, golden tones of the F-2 Horizon of the Green River Formation.
Matrix measures: 21 ˝" x 6 5/8".

Petrified Wood Log with Branch Separation
Araucarioxylon arizonicum
Triassic
Chinle Formation, Northern Arizona

known as Pangaea. The present specimen displays exceptionally textured bark and an aesthetically

brown to tan colors.

Tall Petrified Wood Log with Black End
Araucarioxylon arizonicum
Triassic
Chinle Formation, Northern Arizona
The features of the Chinle Formation are consistent with a broad flood plain; the trees found in the area
are generally described as having been transported by flood conditions into the formation’s sedimentary
basin. The present log specimen would have been carried many miles before reaching its final destination
to be exquisitely preserved for all time. The polished end shows primarily black with tan and off-white.
Unusual bark coloration of light tan and black is exhibited.
Measures: 49 ˝" x 11" x 13".
